The Proposal

Bert had always told me about some stupid 5 year rule he created.  If, after 5 years, we were both still very happy, we would talk about marriage.  At first I was like are you f-ing kidding me?!  But realized after seeing countless number of people getting married so fast then quickly divorced soon there after, I decided it wasn't such a bad idea.. I can wait 5 years... Well in November of 2009, 5 years came...then 5 years went... at the beginning of 2010, I was like "ok buddy I gave you your 5 years!" haha.  He just kept telling me to be patient.

Since Valentine's Day was coming up soon, everyone, and I mean everyone anticipated that to be the day the Bert proposed.  Obviously there was an enormous about of pressure put on him! haha  Well on February 13th, I was out with my friend Amanda for lunch, all we talked about was the next day hoping it was the day.  Secretly she knew everything that was going on.  After lunch, she asked me to go to a few stores with her, I kept telling her I had to get home to see Bert before he went to work. the whole time she's just like a little bit longer we just have to go to one more store, which she did 3 times!  FINALLY, she drove me back home and helped me carry some things inside.  As I walked up to the door and opened it, I heard my favorite song, "Feels Like Home" blasting throughout the house.  I turned around to look at Amanda and she was off running to her car. Sneaky, sneaky girl! She knew exactly what was going on in my house!  As I walked in, the song was playing and there were rose petals and candles leading me up the stair case to the master bedroom.  Following the trail of rose petals, on our pool table, was chocolate covered strawberries and a glass on champagne.  I immediately started to cry, so cheesy!  The master bedroom door was closed and as I opened it, there he was on one knee with a rose in one hand and a ring in the other.  He then said, "Gina, will you marry me?"  all I said was of course, kissed and hugged him. He looked nervous, it was so cute.

Being that he proposed the day before Valentines Days was a huge surprise to me.  He knew I expected it to be on February 14th, which now that I think about it, would have been totally awkward.  I would have been pacing the house all day saying, "ok when is it happening!" lol
